A Hebrew/Israelite is one who is of the Biblical descendants of Abraham (the 1st mentioned Hebrew in Genesis 14:13), Isaac and Jacob (Israel) {Exodus 34:27}.

 

The word Hebrew comes from the root, ayeen-vait-resh which means to “cross-over or pass.”Abraham crossed over from Chaldea to Canaan.The word Israelite stems from Jacob whose name was changed to Israel (Yisrael) when he wrestled with an angel.{Genesis 32:24-30}.

 

Israelites are the chosen people of Yah {Exodus 4:22 & Isaiah 44:1}
