RESTORING A PEOPLE, REBUILDING A NATION
The Feast of Weeks was in celebration of the First Fruits of the wheat harvest. It commanded that the Israelites present an offering of new grain before the Creator Leviticus 23:16. Every year on Shavuot every man is to give as he is able, according to the blessing that the Creator have given you Deuteronomy 16:17. They were to offer "two wave loaves of two-tenths of an ephah" which were made of fine flour, baked with leaven." This offering was to be made with the First Fruits of the harvest, Leviticus 23:17. Now, with the wave offering they were to also offer seven first-year lambs without blemish, one young bullock, two rams, with other offerings that needed to be observed, Leviticus 23:17-21.
When the Israelites were required to do these offerings another important part of the feast must have been kept. When they harvested the fields, they were required to leave the corners of the field untouched and not to gather from the harvest, so that they would leave it for the poor and the stranger, Leviticus 23:22.
You might see Pentecost in your King James Bible, Pentecost is the Greek word for Feast of Weeks and Shavuot’s is the Hebrew word for Feast of Weeks.
AND YE SHALL COUNT UNTO YOU FROM THE MORROW AFTER THE SABBATH FROM THE DAY THAT YE BROUGHT THE SHEAF OF THE WAVE OFFERING; SEVEN SABBATHS SHALL BE COMPLETE: EVEN TOMORROW AFTER THE SEVENTH SABBATH SHALL YE NUMBER FIFTY DAYS; AND YE SHALL OFFER A NEW MEAT OFFERING UNTO YAHOWAH. LEVITICUS 23:15-16
